"World In Decline" is the second Prosthetic release by the SoCal thrashcore quartet Antagonist. Their last CD, 2008's "Exist," received praise by the likes of Outburn ("Memorable melodies, heat-seeking aggression and headbanging thrash") and Revolver ("Speedy power-metal guitar licks and screamo hooks...a focused attack"), but "World In Decline" -- recorded with producer Paul Miner (Thrice, Terror, Throwdown) -- sees the band back with a vengeance.
Says guitarist/singer Carlos Garcia, "‘Exist’ had a hopeful message of working together as humans towards a better future, but the new album is about the realization that things will always be fucked up, people will always be selfish and the world is going to end at any minute, and we have nobody to blame but ourselves. People grow older and figure out that life doesn’t get any easier, and that our own selfishness, carelessness and ignorance are at the core of our demise. Right now, that’s where our heads are at, which has in turn no doubt led to a much more aggressive and angry album."
